"Our daughter has been in the French bilingual section throughout her education and this is something we would greatly like to continue".
The French Bilingual programme is aimed at students with pre-existing French linguistic skills, French mother tongue or French as an additional language. The curriculum is designed to enable students to further develop their bilingualism. The programme includes tailor made French lessons which match the needs of each student according to individual strengths in specific skills. In addition, students learn humanities through the medium of French. This enables them to further develop their linguistic skills whilst acquiring knowledge in History and Geography. Daily Tutor Time is also delivered in French to maximise the exposure and consolidate skills.
A number of qualifications including DELF (French proficiency examinations following the European framework for languages) and GCSE are available. Exam entries are matched to individual students.
In addition to the extension programme, a number of extra-curricular activities are offered to students on the Bilingual Programme: Days at the Institut Français, French theme days at school, a French film club, trips and visits.
We also welcome applications from students who do not currently speak French but can show linguistic aptitude alongside enthusiasm and commitment to being part of this demanding programme.
