Lambeth Academy has begun a new three-year partnership with Capita -a leading provider of business process management and professional support services, headquartered in London - through Business in the Community’s Business class programme.
Laying the foundations of the partnership over the first 12 months, Lambeth Academy will be working closely with the Capita to deliver several initiatives throughout 2017, including a Careers Fair in February and work experience scheme in July. Moving ahead, we will be looking to harness Capita’s expertise to lift the partnership above and beyond traditional activity delivery, broadening the scope of support to achieve maximum impact for the school, its students and people across Capita.
In a great start to the partnership before Christmas, colleagues from across Capita offered their time and skills to support with a recent mock interview day at the school, acting as interviewers for over 150 students in Years 10 and 11. The mock interviews allowed the students to build their confidence and presentation skills with the guidance of professionals, and the school found students have benefitted from the feedback and direction of interviewers to inform their wider choices.
Jean Ampah, curriculum leader of business and enterprise, Lambeth Academy, said: ‘We are very excited to partner with Capita and thankful for their support on the mock interviews last year. Our students found the feedback and guidance received was incredibly useful; for many of our students this was the first encounter in undertaking an interview and it was interesting to see their response and engagement with our professional volunteers. We will support our students in taking on board the advice given and look forward to developing them throughout their individual journeys, through work experience and following their career or academic pathways.’
