Lambeth Academy celebrated World Book Day with a week of activities for all year groups. This year’s focus was Gothic literature with books such as Dracula, the Woman in Black, Jane Eyre and stories by Edgar Allen Poe inspiring students to think about what motivated the authors to create these spine-tingling tales. On World Book Day, staff members dressed as some of their favourite literary characters and in a nod to the Gothic theme, there was a range of spooky outfits which wouldn’t have looked out of place at a Halloween party. “Reading is such a pleasure for many of our students and staff so it’s great to have a week where we reflect daily on the books we love and the characters we’ve gotten to know through their stories”, said Terry Giles from the Resource Team.
