Students and staff from Lambeth Academy are celebrating after winning awards for excellence at the annual United Learning Best in Everyone Awards on Friday 30th June.
The awards, which garner hundreds of nominations each year, were launched in 2012 to celebrate the outstanding achievements of secondary students and their teachers across schools group United Learning.
This year’s ceremony was held in Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, and saw winners of the 50 awards gather for the celebration along with teachers, guests and representatives from United Learning.
Lambeth Academy was very proud this year to celebrate three outstanding awards. David Kawembere, one of our longest serving employees won the ‘Support Staff of the Year’ award for his unrelenting dedication to our students and the Academy in general, since its opening in 2004. Two of our students were also successful. Ivan Chan in Year 9 won the Maths award for Years 7-9, having worked beyond his years in both Maths and Science and attaining his GCSEs in both subjects by the end of Year 7. Ellen Wilkinson in Year 11 won the English Literature Award for Years 10-13. Ellen’s work is comparable to that of an English Literature undergraduate and her passion for the subject radiates in her academic performance. Executive Principal Ms Jan Shadick and Headteacher Ms Carol Shepherd were in attendance and were delighted with the outcome on behalf of the whole school.
It was an uplifting, inspiring evening for everyone involved.
