Friday 14th July started off partly cloudy but by lunchtime, the sun shone over the sports playing fields at James Allen’s Girls’ School in Dulwich where Lambeth Academy celebrated sports day. Students participated in races, the long jump, the high jump and the shot putt along with games (croquet, hula hoops, rings) set up by Ms Aurore Paturaud from the Inclusion team. An often repeated question of “When is the staff relay race?” was finally answered around 2pm when members of the academic staff lined up and waited for the starting gun. The STEM team got off to a flying start and quickly passed the teams from SLT, English and the PE department. Mr Tesfa Lowe (Head of Year 9) completed the final stretch on behalf of STEM and crossed the finish line to big cheers. It was a great day out and a wonderful way to celebrate all that’s good about sport.
