Jan Shadick is currently the Executive Principal at Lambeth Academy, an inner London 11-18 secondary school which serves the diverse community of Lambeth. This is a role she has held for almost 3 years. Jan has over ten years’ experience of headship, having been the Head Teacher of Headlands Schools, in Swindon, which became Swindon Academy – the first 0 – 19 Academy in the country. Prior to this Jan has been a senior leader in schools within the London Boroughs of Bromley and Tower Hamlets.
She holds a BA (Jt Hons) degree in Education from the University of Warwick – specialising in Physical Education and History - and an MA (Distinction) from the University of London. She also has the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH). Jan is also qualified as a facilitator for the National College Leadership programmes – NPOQH, NPQSL and NPQML. Jan is currently training for the Professional Qualification for School Inspection (PQSI) with Ofsted.
Jan has a keen interest in leadership and is a trained facilitator for United Learning to deliver its very popular leadership residential for senior and middle leaders. She believes that the single most important factor in the success or failure of schools is leadership.
Jan is also a Governor of the local Pupil Referral Unit and a trustee of Caterham High School. In 2012 she was invited to be a trustee of the charity 21st Century Legacy which develops the coaching programme ‘Be The Best You Can Be’.
