The Rt. Hon. Dame Angela Rumbold DBE
As Chair of the United Learning Trust which is the
managing body for Lambeth Academy I am proud to be part of this
Academy. Lambeth Academy was the first secondary school to open in
Lambeth for many years. The £25m building was completed on budget and
on time. It provides a world class learning environment for our
community.
At ULT, we believe that every child deserves the best
possible education regardless of whichever sector they are educated in.
We see our particular challenge at Lambeth as being the bringing
together of a rich cultural diversity of children where every child can
become a balanced individual.
As a member of ULT, founded on Christian principles, the
aim for the Academy is to be a place of learning with a clear spiritual
and moral dimension. In a community of diverse backgrounds and
ethnicity, a key goal is ensuring that the faiths of all students are
respected and valued and that students of all faiths, and none, find
the Academy a welcoming and happy place in which to learn.
Outstanding leadership is the key to meeting any
challenge. Stephen Potter is a well-respected school leader who has
been teaching in South London schools for 20 years. Previously he was
at The Charter School in Dulwich - another new and successful school.
I have every confidence in his ability to lead the
Academy and to ensure that generations of young people from Lambeth
will receive the education they deserve and go on to become successful
and active citizens, fully prepared for life in the 21st century.
