What Our Students Say

"Hello, my name is Tilly and I am one of the four head girls in year 11, just about to take my GCSE’s. I was part of the foundation year that first entered the academy, thus I have been with the school throughout its highs and lows, and I thoroughly believe that choosing to go to Lambeth Academy was one of the best decisions I ever made. As well as giving the usual academic qualification Lambeth Academy offers so much more to its students. The teachers are 100% committed to making sure all the students succeed to their very highest potential and get to know each and every student as an individual. We are also introduced to all sorts of fantastic opportunities both inside and outside of school. I myself have been involved in a number of these, such as, my artwork being on display in galleries (year 7), performances like ‘Oliver’ (year 10) and more recently being part of the Global Rock Challenge 2009, in which 20 students (from all years) competed against other schools (including performing arts schools) on Hackney Empire’s stage and managed to win second place; (to name a few). Lambeth Academy also encourage the ‘student voice’, which is a wonderful way in which students get to have their say about how the school is run, and what they think could be improved. We have a house system, and a council for each house, headed by the school council. There is a prefect system and school ambassadors from all years who help with decisions, such as the appointment of new teachers. I was heavily involved with this in year 9 and it has helped my confidence enormously. I could go on for pages about why Lambeth Academy is such a wonderful environment to receive an academic and social education, however I have to attend my silver Duke of Edinburgh meeting, so will leave you with my honest opinion that Lambeth Academy really is a fantastic school!"

"I really like Lambeth Academy because I found it very easy to settle in. The school lunches are really yummy too, they have both cold and hot food with a variety of choices to choose from. There are also great sport and art facilities and loads of computers with our own logins and email addresses. We also got to watch Romeo and Juliet the film which I thought was really good because most schools just have to read the book and don't understand a word of it. We get day trips out as well to places like the globe theatre, swimming and on alternative weeks some of us were taken to a Chinese restaurant called Bento, a fashion show, film and theatre museum in Covent Garden, the British Museum, the 198 Gallery and lots of other places too."

"I like Lambeth Academy because there are a lot activities and opportunities which i enjoy including days out and the alternative weeks. The assemblies are interesting because sometimes we see films and even singing. I do fashion projects on Mondays with Miss Blackwood. It's lots of fun, you get to make your own clothing. I'm helping my friend Ailis make a denim halter neck dress and it's getting along really nicely. We designed our items first, then we practised on plain white cloth and finally we started the real thing. Most of us are decorating now. I recommend fashion project for anyone who likes design."

"The Enrichment program running at the Academy involves a series of extra-curricular activities on from four in the afternoon until six o'clock. In the winter when it gets dark early the clubs end at half past five. There are a wide range of choices just some of them are; design in the 21st century, art club, French club, science club and ICT club. It is compulsory that you participate in at least one club and the maximum you can do is three. Every one at Lambeth Academy really enjoys doing the enrichment and if you joined in i'm sure you would too!"
