Chinese Video Conference
Lambeth Academy had been asked to start up a video linking conference between our school and Houhai Primary School in Shen Zhen, China. The Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform John Hutton was in China that week and wanted to demonstrate the use of technology by British firms in China and the potential opportunity for future investment. The live link-up was created using Elluminate and Promethean's interactive software. The children could view and communicate on each other's interactive whiteboards and interact in realtime with the other class.
The video linking conference was set up for 9am on the 5th June and press was invited on both sides. Chinese TV gave this a high profile and the Media also arrived in Lambeth Academy to film the event. Mrs Schmidt, Director of Specialism MFL, had chosen eight pupils from year 7 to participate in the event and Mrs Hongye Wu from COMAC helped with the Chinese Language preparation.
The event was a great success and the pupils benefitted greatly from the experience.
