Rambert Dance at the South Bank
Students from Lambeth Academy performed at the Southbank on Tuesday 29th March with other primary and secondary schools in the Lambeth Borough. This was an eight week project in collaboration with the fantastic Rambert Dance Company. The students met every Tuesday afternoon with our animateur from Rambert Natalie Gibbs and developed the piece.
They were impeccably behaved, professional in their manner and supportive of all other performers.
When we arrived at the Southbank centre the students were shown their dressing room and given a run through of the piece in the space, the performance started at 12:30 noon with a large audience watching in the Clore Ballroom, an introduction was given from Mark Baldwin, Rambert Dance Company’s artistic director.
The students were given so much praise from parents, teachers and members of the public that came to watch and I am tremendously proud of all the hard work they have put in over the past 8 weeks. The students have gained so much from the process:
Such as being creatively being involved in the choreography, understanding the need to not give up when they tire, performing in a prestigious venue and broadening their knowledge of dance styles.
Well Done to all the students.
