Trip to No 10

On Friday 25th November we took 7 Year 11 students to Downing Street no 10 for a tour through the house and guided talk for us. Francesca, George, Miayah, Saylie, Cory, Ferlondo, ALice had a great morning and our students were fantastic ambassadors for the academy.
The Prime Minister’s event manager told us many anecdotes, showed the students all the gifts from Royals and world leaders and made the students sit in the Prime MInister’s chairs within the house ( for example in the cabinet room and also VIP room, which you see when watching TV about visits of world leaders to Downing Street). My message to our students was clear, they have now already sat in the Prime Minister’s chair, there is no reason why they can not become the next Prime Minister. The students were allowed to hold a book by J.F.Kennedy also signed by J.F. K. We were shown a massive globe as a present from F. Mitterand and Cory was very proud to see the Jamaican flag in prime position on the outside circle of it. They were also allowed to take items from shelves and tables and pass them round. Funnily enough it became most real to them when we stepped into the private terrace and garden of the Prime Minister and our students saw the toys of the young children in the garden and when they saw the BBQ area where B. Obama tossed the burgers earlier this year.
