I was delighted to welcome visitors to school at our Open morning and evening this week. We are now truly an open school where anyone considering a secondary school for their child can walk in and tour the school without an appointment. Visitors have the opportunity to see the students, staff and school as we really are because we have nothing to hide and a lot to shout about. At our Open Evening, student ambassadors from Years 7-13 shone as they discussed what they are most passionate about; learning. As I joined various tour groups led by some of our exceptional students, it was heartening to hear them share unprompted, what they like about the school and what makes this a good option for prospective pupils. They were able to explain their own ambitions to achieve academically, and they talked about the clubs and programmes they participate in which help build character and resilience. We are very fortunate to have a modern building with excellent facilities like our Sports Hall and Newton Hall, which impressed visitors. However, it was our young people who are at the heart of everything we do, with their warmth, enthusiasm and ambition that amazed our guests and made me very proud.
