Lambeth Academy Students Receive GCSE Results

Students at Lambeth Academy are preparing to return to the school's Sixth Form, after receiving their GCSE grades today.

As a result of COVID-19, students and staff across the country have found themselves in an unprecedented situation this year with the cancellation of GCSE examinations.  Students have therefore been awarded grades based on what their teachers predicted they would achieve, except in cases where the model created by Ofqual has awarded a higher grade.

Lambeth Academy Year 13 students received their A level / BTEC grades today.  In spite of the challenges faced by early school closures due to COVID-19 and the cancellation of A level exams, students were awarded the grades they needed to access a pathway of their choice for next year.

Out of the year group, 91% were offered a place at university.  Furthermore, 20% of students are going to ST30 universities and 18% of students will attend Russell Group universities.

Royal Academy Selects Student Work for Summer Exhibition

A Year 8 student at Lambeth Academy, Imani Brieussel Dickson, is celebrating after her artwork was selected for the Royal Academy of Arts’ prestigious Young Artists’ Summer Show.

The annual art show is an opportunity for pupils aged 5-19 across the country to have their work exhibited online and on-site at the Royal Academy of Arts. To enter the competition, pupils, their teacher or their parent must submit a photo of the artwork they have created online. These submitted pieces are then put before a judging panel of art experts, who have the difficult task of selecting the stand-out works that will go on to feature in the exhibition.

To win her place in this year’s competition, talented young artist Imani submitted a photograph entitled ‘Diversity’. Describing her artwork, Imani said:

“My art piece is a photograph of my feet in my skin matching pointe shoes that I took with the self-timer on my mum's SLR camera. The matching brown skins ballet shoes only came out in 2018 and I think it represents the development in which opportunities have opened for all in the world of ballet.”
